HERMOGENO DESIGNS believes that Green is a holistic design and lifestyle
approach that is the most fundamental behavioral change that the industry
and the world at large has faced in years. The concern for the devastation
humans have afflicted on the environment is an important issue that spans
across all aspects of life including our built environment. Green Design in the
built work focuses on reducing the carbon footprint and the conservation of
energy and natural resources. HD believes that this approach should be
represented and used in all stages of building from administrative to building
practices for each design created and built. This approach to Green Design
starts with electronic documents submitted to clients via internet for approval,
moves into the selection of sustainable and eco-friendly materials, construction
practices such as recycling of a client’s existing cabinets for kitchen remodels
and educating clients about earth friendly maintainance practices for finished
spaces. At HD we feel there is no excuse, no matter how minor the service or
usage of a material in a project is, our message is simple: do what we can. As
part of HD’s standard practices, each project includes and maintains a
minimum of 10% of materials or practices categorized as meeting Green and/or
Sustainable standards of the US Green Building Council.
